The Artist Way: Life of Pie

Technically the exercise is titled "Life Pie" but I had to make the reference. The book says to: "Draw a circle below. Divide it into six pieces of pie. Label one piece "spirituality," another "exercise," another "play," and so on with "work," "friends," and "romance/adventure." Place a dot in each slice at the degree to which you are fulfilled in that area (outer rim indicates great; inner circle, not so great). Connect the dots. This will show you where you're lopsided."

To be honest, I didn't really understand this part of the exercise. Wouldn't it be simpler and more comprehensible to just make a pie chart? But I did the thing anyway and here it is:

(I felt like I was summoning a demon drawing that. I'm also not sure what I made with the dots. Did I make a kite? A very unfortunate box? Who knows? Not me.)

The book also says to write down at least three ways I can make my dot-circle less lopsided (1. Get work done in a more timely manner so 2. I have more time to do what I enjoy and 3. Find exciting activities to contribute to Adventure) and to find little tidbits of time to alter this.

My exercise is getting better now that I'm more or less required to, and the system me and Gen came up with might just follow me throughout the rest of my time here, so I'm not worried about that. Work is a little trickier, since I don't have a job besides "being a student" and because I don't assign my homework, but I can work on my ethic. I took the time when I'm not signed up for shop hours to get ahead on my To-Do list. I think it's safe to say that play should follow after. As for Adventure, I think it will have to take a rain check this week, but after, I'm up for a walk in the Seguin Park. Or maybe a play at the Majestic?
